Facetted glittering beads of glass

Facetted glass beads have sharply polished edges which lend them a glamorous precious jewel character. They cannot boast of any carat, though their intensive sparkle and the vast variety can enchant the lover of jewellery exactly the same as in a magic spell.

The faceting of glass beads originated with the desire to imitate valuable precious gemstones and crystals. We give a thousand thanks to the inventor for making affordable facetted beads available to those who cannot stretch their budget to precious jewels/gemstones. They come in an abundance of sizes, shapes and colours. The range available is only limited by the imagination of the manufacturer.
Therefore when you have a creative attack, facet-cut beads can be bought to one’s heart's content, so nobody has to waive the luxurious glitter in the eyes, that comes if not already while shopping, then soon after whilst creating a beautiful collier or wearing the jewellery. When mirrored in the eyes of a partner or the buyer, this is probably the most beautiful effect of all.

You can think of a lot of varitations by combining them with other beads. Have you ever tried to mix for example, rough rustic material like leather and other natural materials with sparkling glass beads or Crystal Rondelles? Rules are also there to break, so that unique and unconventional designs can develop.

Glass beads with faceting are at home in nearly every technique of jewellery design. You may find inspiration in the profiles of our customers and in their photos of the contest pieces.

Abbreviated version of the production of facetted glass beads:

Firstly glass rods are heated up and from these, round glass beads are pressed.
After they have cooled down these pearls are sharpened by machine into different forms and are then fire-polished (polished with heat). A special shine is achieved if leaded crystal glass is used in the production. The glass beads can be enriched with different effects. The various surface coatings are applied in a stove, also under heat. The sparkling, shining, gleaming, metallic effects on the faceted beads can make them even more attractive.
Some manufacturers try to press facet form immediately to save the additional costs of the sharpening process. However you see straight away that the edges are rather blunt and/or sometimes keep a burr of pressing. In any case they would not be suitable to wear at the Queen’s garden party.

For now please have a lot of fun with our crown jewels and dive into the world of sparkles, glitter and iridescence.
